I’d open your 2016 Château Grand Corbin-Despagne, a Merlot-led Saint-Émilion with the concentration to match lamb’s rich flavour. The meat’s protein and fat soften the impression of tannin, while the wine’s acidity refreshes the palate between bites. Dark plum fruit provides a counterpoint to the savoury meat; cedar and earthy nuances should harmonise with rosemary and the browned crust. Roasting mellows garlic’s pungency, allowing the wine’s fruit and bouquet to show. A particularly good match for a rosemary-and-garlic roast.

Who is SmartCellar built for?
Wine enthusiasts who want to keep track of their own collection, from a wine fridge to several cellars. SmartCellar is UK-based, with web plans priced in pounds.
Can I start with a small cellar?
Yes. The free plan includes one cellar and up to 50 bottles. You do not need a card to sign up.
Is my collection private?
Yes. Your collection is private unless you choose to share it. You can download your wines, tasting notes and wishlist from Settings in CSV or JSON format.
